After our earlier outing at Hargeisa, my-healthconnect recently connected to a tertiary care center in Bosaso, in the state of Puntland, Somalia to bring quality medical care to patients in this remote city..

Bosaso is a port city at the North-Eastern part of the country of Somalia. It is a hub that helps goods enter Somalia from places like Dubai, Yemen etc.

Here, healthcare is still in very nascent stages and patients travel to places like Malaysia, Turkey and India for even simple health checks. Primary care is ably provided by the many General Physicians, but tertiary care is still a distant dream in Puntland.

Dr.Tejeswi Gutti, a renowned surgical gastroenterologist from Bangalore, was the visiting doctor along with the team from my-healthconnect.

Over a period of ten days, around 150 patients were diagnosed and some even underwent endoscopy to understand their gastro-intestinal issues.

The gratitude of the patients was apparent when one of them said “It is a boon to get our gastro check done locally, instead of having to spend upwards of $3000 and travel to another country for it.”

Some patients requiring gall bladder surgeries were operated in the local facility, thereby helping the patient get treatment and recover post-operatively in their homes without the burden of travel and associated expense.

The mission of my-healthconnect is to take quality medical care from the best doctors/surgeons in India to the people who really need them. We achieved this to a great extent at Hargeisa and Bosaso and, in addition, we have forged partnerships with primary care centers in these places to assist patients in connecting directly with doctors in India via the patient platform hosted on our portal.
