You have a persistent pain in the back that you have been ignoring for a while now. You’re not alone, but it might be advisable not to ignore it for too long. An alarming statistic is that 75%-85% people above the age of 30 experience back pain. It is, in fact, one of the most common reasons for a visit to the general physician. The key is Pain Management – how you effectively manage it!!

75-85% of people above the age of 30 experience back pain

Recognizing this as a widespread health issue, my-healthconnect recently organized a workshop for Dr.Pradeep Reddy, one of India’s leading joint replacement surgeons, at Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC), Hyderabad. The objective was to connect the young audience with the doctor who specializes in knee, hip and other orthopedic surgeries.

The workshop helped build awareness on the most common outcome of a sedentary lifestyle – pain along the bones supporting a sitting posture. The spine and neck are the most affected areas for young people who spend a large part of their day at a desk or in front of a computer.

Workplace Ergonomics workshop at HSBC Hyderabad, Pain Management

Around 80 people attended the engagement that involved the following modules:

– Discussion on neck and back pain issues faced by the audience

– Suryanamaskara and its benefits when done regularly

– Healthy lifestyle habits and Work Place Ergonomics

– When to meet a doctor/surgeon and

– Keynote on surgery, if needed, and post-operative care

Dr. Pradeep Reddy describes himself as a surgeon with over 5000+ surgeries performed over a 10 year practice, but he firmly believes that surgery is the last resort, only to be considered when all other modalities of treatment have failed. He strongly advocates following simple, everyday preventive measures as small steps that can be adopted to avoid the larger issues of neck and back pain.

Our association with Dr.Pradeep Reddy emphasizes our effort to connect patients to the right doctor for a more accurate feedback on diagnosis, irrespective of whether the final treatment modality is surgery or palliative treatment.

If you have a bone and joint related problem and you are exploring options on good doctors, we recommend you use our patient platform and upload your most recent X-ray along with the doctor report and we could connect you with our panel of orthopedic specialists for an opinion.

As part of my-healthconnect initiatives, we have empanelled Orthopaedic Surgeons, who have the necessary expertise. Our initiatives have been helpful in connecting patients in sub-urban India as well as overseas patients to specialists in India for an opinion and, where required, the necessary follow-up treatment.
